Sacred Words Entry # 6
Healing Sauce
I’m not quite sure hot to explain this aspect of the project. The healing element came more out of necessity then anything else; the process of creating the sauce was one of very intense secret Buddhist yogic practice. This is why I am reticent to share. On the other hand I am drawn to share the reasons and the motivations for this healing sauce. I am drawn to do so because I feel that it is quite important for everyone to know the full extent of the healing powers of the sauce, even if they don’t understand them.
At this point in my internal dialogue I have a moment of pause. What if these readers, friends, family and complete strangers, don’t believe me? What if they get angry at me for my arrogance for the following statements? With that thought I sigh and proceed inviting whatever may come from my few readers.
So, here it is – the healing comes from Tara’s (the mother of the 33 gods) law; her potent energy; an energy that meets and heals all sentient beings without one exception. An energy that instantly heals and protects all beings. The energy that is the realization of prajna paramita bodhicitta loving kindness.
How?
Well, here goes. This is how I understand it. It began when I was working as a child interviewer, a person interviewing children for sexual abuse, I was sensitive and really couldn’t handle the horrors the children were disclosing. To protect my mind stream I practiced the prajna paramita mantra. The mantra the Buddha taught when he taught his students emptiness. This mantra turned into the mantra "oceans and oceans of bodhi, bodhi sagara bodhi". As I repeated this new mantra over and over again it transformed again into the mantra that is now said over each batch of sauce to infuse it with the healing of Tara; OM SHARI BODHI SAGARA SWAHA. So as far as I can tell, I really didn’t create the sauce, Tara did. I worked with Tara and her two sisters through the pratice of mantra and came to understand the power of healing that she had to offer and with her help decided to infuse that wonderful energy into a product, hot sauce.
During the process of repeating this mantra I began making the sauce. With each new batch I repeated three mantras to bless the sauce. I repeated the mantra above while I added the secret ingredients. While I peeled the garlic, I repeated the prajna paramita mantra. While I peeled the ginger, I said Tara’s mantra.
Making the sauce became my spiritual practice. Through this process it became clear to me that to say these mantras as the sauce was made gave it healing qualities. It isn’t just that it tastes good – and it really does – but it also feels good to eat. This feeling is the healing quality. The healing energy is Tara's blessing , a positive energy that the body craves and enjoys when the sauce is eaten. The wave is now released. Tara heal all indiscriminately.
